Choose the right source client.
BUTT is a focused encoder for sending microphone, mixer or line audio to a streaming server. Mixxx adds DJ playback and mixing before it sends the encoded source.
Use BUTT for a straightforward studio feed; use Mixxx when the presenter also needs decks, cueing and a local music workflow.
Use the SGNL connection profile.
Enter the provided host, port, mount, source identity and secret exactly. Keep each presenter isolated rather than sharing the main station credentials.
Save profiles on trusted equipment only. Rotate or disable a presenter's access when their role changes.
Set audio and metadata deliberately.
Match the supported codec and bitrate in the profile. Test microphone gain, mixer output and headroom before going live; a successful connection does not guarantee usable audio.
Configure track metadata in Mixxx or provide an appropriate live-show identity. SGNL prefers valid live metadata and otherwise falls back to the scheduled show or presenter name.
Run a private handover test.
Connect, verify signal confidence, listen to the public output and confirm that now-playing information no longer shows stale AutoDJ content.
Then disconnect deliberately and verify that AutoDJ returns. Repeat the test with a dropped network connection if the live show is important.
Keep a simple live checklist.
Before every show: confirm credentials, local audio, metadata, network stability, headphones and the fallback playlist. After the show: stop the source and verify the station has returned to automation.
The browser dashboard is for monitoring and control; it does not request microphone permission or replace the dedicated source client.
